This is a classic 150mm Deba bocho hand-forged by the renowned Kiya workshop in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, and bearing the “Kinugo (金吾)” mark – one of Kiya’s traditional blacksmith signatures. Made from high-carbon steel (Shirogami / White Paper steel) with a single-bevel grind, it is the traditional heavy-duty Japanese knife designed for breaking down fish and poultry.
The knife has seen almost no actual use and was kept in storage for many years, which has resulted in some light surface oxidation and faint patina spots on the blade – typical for non-stainless carbon steel. These marks are purely cosmetic and do not affect performance; many users even appreciate this natural aging as character. The edge remains factory-sharp, the blade face is still mirror-polished in areas, and overall the knife presents beautifully.
Handle is traditional Japanese “Wa-handle” style in ho wood with a black plastic ferrule. Comes with its original Kiya box (showing age but intact).
